This 4-weeks Tajweed course is for beginners aiming to learn the basic rules of Tajweed, including proper pronunciation and Quranic recitation. Through a structured, interactive curriculum, students will gain the skills to recite correctly, deepening their understanding and connection with Al-Quran!

About the Course

Course Overview:


Week 1 & 2: Introduction to Tajweed: Makharij and Sifat


Objective: Understand the importance of Tajweed and master the basic pronunciation rules.


Topics Covered:

  • What is Tajweed? Introduction and significance in Quranic recitation

  • Arabic Alphabet: Overview of the letters and their sounds.

  • Quranic & Sunnah Resources (Dalil) on learning Tajweed

  • Makharij (Articulation Points): Identifying and practicing the correct articulation points for each letter.

  • Sifat (Characteristics): Basic attributes of letters (e.g., softness, heaviness).


Week 3: Rules of Noon Sakinah and Meem Sakinah


Objective: Apply Tajweed rules related to Noon Sakinah and Meem Sakinah in recitation.


Topics Covered:

  • Noon Sakinah: Understanding the rules of Idgham (merging), Iqlab (conversion), and Ikhfaa (concealment).

  • Meem Sakinah: Application of rules such as Idgham, Ikhfaa, and Izhar (clarification).

  • Practical Exercises: Recitation practice with a focus on these rules.


Week 4: Rules of Madd (Prolongation)


Objective: Learn and apply the rules of elongation and echoing sounds in recitation.


Topics Covered:

  • Madd (Prolongation): Types of Madd and their rules (e.g., Madd of 2, 4, and 6 counts).

  • Practical Exercises: Recitation practice incorporating Madd and knowledge on Makharij & Sifat.

  • Advanced Pronunciation: Applying learned rules in more complex recitation scenarios.

  • Common Mistakes: Identifying and correcting frequent errors in Tajweed.

  • Recitation Practice: Group and individual recitation to reinforce learning and improve fluency.

  • Q&A Session: Address any lingering questions and provide feedback.

Materials Provided:

  • Course handouts with Tajweed rules and practice exercises.

  • Access to online resources and recordings for home practice via Whatsapp group.

  • List of recommended Quranic verses for practice.

Course Structure:

  • Lessons will be taught in a classroom setting

  • Practical recitation of short surahs with the Course Instructor at the end of each session

  • Groupwork will be required to test the understanding of participants

  • Weekly quizzes will be given

Expected Outcomes: 


By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Recite the Quran with a fundamental understanding of Tajweed's rules.

  2. Correctly pronounce Arabic letters and apply basic Tajweed principles.

  3. Perform Quranic recitation with improved accuracy and fluency.

Prerequisites: 

No prior knowledge of Tajweed is required, but familiarity with the Arabic alphabet is beneficial.


About the Class:

  • Age and Gender:

    Both genders,16 years and above

  • Theaching Language:

    English and Malay

  • Schedule

    : 4 sessions – 2 hours each – Every Friday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

  • Class Size:

    The course starts with a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 15 participants

  • Course Fees:

    Includes registration fees and materils. 

Course Instructor: 

Ustazah/ Hafizah Abdul Latif, Certified ARS Ustazah with 15 years of experience, holding an Ijazah in Quran and two Diplomas in Da’wah. She is passionate about teaching Seerah and sharing knowledge with the community.
